Raised in Hawaiʻi, Justina Taft has lived on most of the major islands except Kahoʻolawe and Niʻihau. The majority of her years were spent on Oʻahu and Hawaiʻi Island. She earned her Ph.D. in Theatre Arts from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, and now lives on the island of Hawaiʻi with her children and assorted pets. She lectures for the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo. After Dawn is her first novel.
